1. Start Small and Stay Consistent

The foundation of any fitness journey is consistency. Whether it’s once a week or more, the key is doing a bit more than before. Walking is an excellent way to get moving. If you’re already comfortable with walking, short, manageable gym sessions are a great next step. Remember, gradual progress is what we’re aiming for.

2. Listen to Your Body

It’s normal to feel a bit sore when you start a new workout routine, but it shouldn’t be debilitating. Pay attention to what your body tells you. If a particular exercise feels too challenging, scale it back. If you feel you can do more, do more. But listen to what your body says the next day. Was the extra effort needed, or too much? This is a learning phase.

3. Be Kind to Yourself And Keep Going

This is crucial: Don’t compare your beginning to someone else’s years-long journey. Your workouts should match your current ability, not someone who’s 10 years ahead. Do Day 1 activities if you’re at Day 1. And, keep going. The path to fitness isn’t a straight line, and there will be ups and downs. The important thing is to be consistent, stand back up after you “fall” and be patient with yourself. Celebrate every victory along the way – no matter how small they feel.
