It’s Podium Week at Northglenn Health and Fitness!

Do you remember your first step? Probably not but it was a big deal. Trust me.

Whether it was your first step as a toddler, the first word you uttered, or even tying your shoelaces by yourself for the first time. These are moments of victory that are celebrated! So why do we stop as we get older? Why don’t we give ourselves the credit we deserve?

What would have happened if those things were just ignored because, you couldn’t run a mile yet. You couldn’t give an eloquent speech in front of a large auditorium. You wouldn’t have felt good about it and you might have lost interest in trying anything new or getting better at anything. What’s the point?

It’s easy to forget how important it is to celebrate the small steps we take towards our bigger goals. At Northglenn Health and Fitness, we don’t. This is the essence of our Podium Week.

In life, setting an ambitious target, like doing a hundred push-ups when you’ve never done one, can be daunting. It can feel like a mountain too tall to climb. That’s why celebrating every step of the way is vital. You can’t leap from base to peak in a single bound. It’s about the progression, the journey, and every single step you take.

If we only cheered when reaching the finish line, most would lose heart midway. But what if we cheered every time you took a step, made an effort, or even just tried? That’s the power of recognizing the importance of every little victory.

What is Podium Week?

Podium Week is an annual event at Northglenn Health and Fitness. But it’s more than that to us, it’s our philosophy. We believe that “Success leads to motivation, not the other way around.” When our clients experience and celebrate their successes, no matter how small they might seem, they feel joy, confidence, and the motivation to continue pushing forward.

During Podium Week, we put our athletes on a pedestal — literally and figuratively. We highlight their achievements, and here’s how we do it:

  1. Identify Opportunities: Every workout session presents numerous chances for success. It could be completing a faster row, managing more unbroken dumbbell presses, or just finishing their entire workout that day. There’s always something to aim for.
  2. Set Intentions: Before starting, we encourage each client to choose their ‘podium’ for the day. What is that one thing they want to achieve?
  3. Celebrate Achievements: Once they hit their goal, we make it special. We jot down their achievement on a whiteboard, and they get to pose with it. Standing tall, with pride, on a box, they get their moment of glory. And let’s be honest, don’t we all want more moments of glory? Beats just trekking along on the hamster wheel each day.
