Client Spotlight: Brooke is Stronger and Confident. Her Return to Strength and Confidence at NHF
Brooke came to Northglenn Health and Fitness after years of health scares, surgery, and fear about getting back into exercise. She needed a place where she could feel safe, supported, and understood.

Q: Brooke, can you tell us about what life was like before joining Northglenn Health and Fitness?
“I had just gone through a medical nightmare and trying to find out what was wrong with me. It had left me bedbound for a year or two. I finally found what was wrong and had surgery. And then after those surgeries, I was really worried about getting back into exercising. I usually would kind of go do it on my own, but I had a real fear of re-injuring myself.”
Q: What made you realize you needed help and not just a gym membership?
“Part of my worry and concern about going to work out was I don’t know where to start. I don’t know if I’m going to hurt myself. I really needed individualized attention… and I knew I would get that here from you.”
Q: What were you looking for in a gym?
“I was really wanting someone to baby me in a sense and to take my surgeries into consideration and kind of keep me from going too crazy. This gym just fit that to a tee. Everyone here has been very involved in my recovery as far as getting my muscle strength back and what I needed to really work on, where they knew where I was weak. You can’t get that if you’re just going into your off-the-street gym… this isn’t the same kind of place.”
Q: What was it like when you first started at NHF?
“When I found NHF I felt like I had found home. That’s exactly what I wanted— to be able to go in like it’s like seeing friends. It’s not like I’m scared or it’s going to be too much. It’s whatever you can handle that day. I’ve had days where my symptoms were too much for me to work out and we just modified everything. And I left just feeling like, wow… that’s so personalized, and you don’t get that anywhere else. I could put those worries aside and just enjoy the workout and enjoy the process.”
Q: How has your life changed since you started?
“Since I’ve started, I’ve noticed a lot of changes… I’m getting my booty back, my thighs are coming back. I just have overall so much more energy and more than anything, the mental aspect of it— I’m in such a better place. Exercising just takes you beyond what’s going on in the background and gives me something to look forward to.
My physical strength and my mental wellness have improved. It’s helped me with my balance, which has given me more confidence in going out and doing more things. I’m doing much more walking, lawn mowing, and yard work. It’s given me confidence that I can trust my body now. I can trust it again.”
