Did I Do OK in that Workout?

Did I do ok in that workout? We get this question all of the time from people just starting out. It’s a very valid question, with some strong feelings attached to it.

When you are starting out, or starting back up, with a fitness routine we all want to know how we did. Why wouldn’t we? We have anxiety about coming in to the gym again. Even if you have been out of the fitness world for a while, you will still have memories of who you were in high school or college. You’ll find yourself comparing your performance to that person you were before, whether it was 1 year or 20+ years ago. You might find yourself wondering how far off you are from who you were.

How Did Your Mom Do in that Workout?

The emotions are hard but the answer is simple. What would you expect of your brother or sister, mother or father, coming in to the gym with you? Would you expect them to perform as well as they did 20 years ago, when they were in better shape, or when they were in high school or college athletics? No, right? How would you answer that question if they asked you? Would you honestly think they did terrible or would you be so incredibly happy for them that they are making the effort and a starting a positive life change? That is how we feel about you.

When you start with us, you go through 3 one hour personal training sessions with one of our coaches. Everyone goes through this that is going to go into our Group Training Classes. We do this so everyone is comfortable on Day 1 in their first group training class. We cover popular movements, proper technique, for form and safety, and all the lingo that comes with the gym. At the end of each session we put you through a workout that uses those movements you just learned. Afterwards, you log your scores into our mobile app. The next time you run through that same workout, you will be able to see your improvements over time.

We also have an InBody that will track your fat loss and muscle gain too. We are all about data and reporting that data to you. You will feel good, but also be able to see exactly how your body is changing with facts.

If you, or your dad, wait to start until you are able to do the things you were able to do 20 years ago, will you ever start? That is why we are here. We are here to take you from where you are now, to where you want to be. We do this all day everyday with a lot of people.
